A MATI FOR MOM

The Evil Eye is seen in many cultures in the Mediterranean and Middle East as an act of manevolence, a hex of sorts. One can cast the evil eye to send negative energy to whoever they wish. To combat this, the Evil Eye symbol is used to protect oneself.

In Greek culture, the Evil Eye or “Mati” (translating to eye in Greek), is worn to protect the wearer from anyone with negative intentions. Though an Orthodox culture, Greeks very much believe in magic, though it takes different forms than Wicca or Voodoo.

This jean jacket was beaded for my mother to shroud her in positive energy. The time it took to sew it and the symbol itself infused the jacket with protection both for her health and fortune.
