Made of old and new fabric, natural stone and glass beads, and fun materials from Hobby Lobby that I bought on a whim, “Octopus Without A Garden”, is inspired by the beatles’ Magical Mystery Tour era. Whimsical and somewhat useless, he still exists out of spite of seriousness. He is fun, playful, and reminds us to nurture our inner child.
In a world of responsibility, utility, and proving the importance of art through high brow metaphors, this octopus stands by the absurd and shows us that we don’t need to prove our importance to anyone but ourselves.
